Well brekkie this morning in the Sherwood forest cafe.... Since we are staying in a castle of course!
Today was shopping in the outlet mall day.... And did we shop! It was great... Running gear dirt cheap .. Shoes... Bags...watches... Amazing.
Sophs finally plucked up the courage and got her ears pierced... something she was promised when she sat her ballet exam but chickened out on at home. I think she had been building up and thinking about this for a very long time as she didn't even flinch! Very cute hello kitty earings later and she hasn't stopped looking in the mirror since.
We had bought cheap tickets to the tournament of kings show for tonight which had to be picked up one hour prior to the show or they were forfeited.... Well we ran out of time shopping and missed the bus so had a 15 min wait to catch the next one.... With mild panic setting in Aaron dashed off to find us a taxi for an urgent race back to the hotel... Well it was like a movie... The taxi came flying around the corner and Aaron leapt out saying "get in, get in fast" (the taxi was pulling an illegal manouever picking us up) so we jump in and asked him to step on it as fast as possible.... Well the driver loved that... When we got to our destination I leapt out and ran I side to get the tickets while the others sorted the cab fare..... However, once back in the room we discovered my iPhone hasn't synched (not usuable
here wit telecom) so we were an hour earlier ... So no high speed dash require!!!! Oh but it was fun!
We headed downstairs to the show and wow... What a show... It's funny because for the third time this trip we have done something/gone somewhere that people on trip advisor (travel website) advise against or give bad review on.
This was so much fun. We we're seated in the Spain section and had a king we were cheering for. The kings came out on real horses and there was quite the theatrical story... Toni you would have loved it... Very theatre folk ... Although this had pyrotechnics thrown in for a bit of zest.... Enough to make me jump and choke on my Carona.
They served dinner with no utensils... All very medieval.. The meal was tomato soup which was quite delish then they bought out the main which was a whole chicken, 2 potatoes, a scone thing, and a massive floret of broccoli..... The kids enjoyed ripping into their chickens .... they didn't cater for vegetarians so I ate 3 huge florets of broccoli.... How kind of Quinlan and Sophie to give me theirs!!!!! The meal was so big we could barely move as they also bought out some sort of pastry thing for dessert.
Another great day and night.... On the way back we went via the kids game section where the kids played a horse race game thing where you threw balls into holes ... Well Quinlan won and yes it was another soft toy!!!! Hmmmmmm we may have a suitcase just of soft toys at this rate!!!!
Tomorrow is exploring the casinos day ... There are sone great exhibits on we want to check out and the kids are desperate to ride some roller coasters!!!!
Oh I just did what you used to do on our blog Cath- typed it allt hen lost it!!! grrr.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are all having a ball there- my Dad told me the first big trip is always the best which we found to be true. Spending it with your family and seeing the delight through kids (and hubbys!) eyes makes it even better.
You sound like you are really in your element Cath,
enjoy

PS. Sammy only has 3 weeks to go!
Hey Denise ... Yes very frustrating when you lose it. We are having so much fun it is all very exciting. So exciting for Sam. My sister had her baby the day before we left so I haven't met my nephew yet and he will be almost 6 weeks old when we get home. I don't know how to post photos from my iPad so my blog is nowhere near as exciting as yours ever was! Hope you have a great Xmas.
