day 4
The final Disney push. Wow up at 7 am to get to the park to meet Mickey at our special VIP morning. It was so worth it the kids (well all of us!) got to become honorary citizens of Toontown and the chance to meet Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip and Dale before the park opened up to other guests so there was no big lines to meet "the stars". After exploring Toontown, Sophs met the princesses (again) and learnt the official wave, curtsy and manners before a consensus was made that we return to California Adventure before finishing off the day at Disney.... Well.... the tower of terror awaited..... I wish now we didn't go on ToT. omg I came off crying Sophs lost it and what more can be said ...... it was terrifying..... It's basically a haunted plummet to earth with screeching stops every fews floors where doors fling open to the big wide yonder.... Oh and they take your photo! nice.... You can see the terror on our faces and the tears in my eyes. The roller coasters were a walk in the park compared to this nightmare! Aaron and I found a bar where I downed a $10 usd cocktail to celebrate being alive! The rest of the day is a blur of rides and candy floss and caramel popcorn and all things nice. We finished the night off by Sophs falling asleep in our arms at 11.30 pm and Quinlan telling me to stick knives in his legs cause he can't feel them? Aaron and I found some ditched strollers Chucked both kids in and headed for the exit gates.... (before returning one stroller that still had someones stuff in it!!!! Quinlan started crying as we were leaving as he didn't want to go and wanted to live in disneyland and was so upset as "I am never going to come back"
.... This of course gave Aaron and I the opening to say well... If you work hard at school and get a good job that pays well you can come back here one day..... Hehehe..... Although Aaron and I loved it so much we may have to return on our way back to NZ. We will see.
Day 5
The travelling day. Today we lazed around a bit had some breakfast in downtown Disney .... Grabbed some last minute caramel popcorn to go...... It is so devine.... Then picked up the jeep to head towards the grand canyon. I am chief driver with Aaron on co pilot with the gps. Not too shabby travelling I might add.... Only a couple of hairy moments when you turn left onto a two way street but getting the hang of it... We drove over 300 miles to get to Kingman Arizona where we are parked up in a motel for the night doing some washing... Eating some veggies and making sure the kids get a good nights sleep. It's a bit cooler here but not to bad still one layer of clothing..... Went to the supermarket for some fruit and veggies and the kids eyes just about popped out of their heads with the different foods.... Bacon flavored popcorn!!!! They are into beef jerky so a bag of that... Some water supplies .... Yummy berries and a pre made platter (normal food for my kids) of veggies and dip and the kids happily feasted away before dropping off to sleep in an instant. .... There is a time difference here and we have lost one hour which was even better to get the kids into bed.... Not so much of a big drive tomorrow so it will be a cruisy meandering day....
Hi guys
ReplyDeletewow - Disney Land sounds like the coolest place in the world. Uncle Scott and I were so jealous reading your last 5 days we almost cried as many tears as it sounds like you shed on the TOT (I wasn't jealous about that one - didn't sounds like I'd hold up. Uncle Scott thought that sounded like it could be his favourite ride you wrote about).
Not so sure the bacon flavoured popcorn sounds great ..... but you never know, lots of people laugh at peanut butter and banana but it is delicious, you just have to try it.
Can't wait to hear tales from the grand canyon - once again, so cool and so jealous.
Well, you are Aunties and Uncles again - Michael has arrived. He was born on Sunday 12th at 2.50am and was 6 pounds 6 ounces (or 3040kg) - not small at all I thought but apparantly so. They advise me the average baby is 7.5 - 8 pounds ..... eeek, they are wrong, he is perfect. We are a little bias though.
He is long (49cm at birth) - I knew he was long cause they kept telling me he was down and ready but he was still managing to stab me in the ribs.
Fairly easy labour, much like the pregnancy. Didn't get my epidural. Had a shot of pethadine and a few hours later, wanted the epidural but it was too late, he was already arriving. My midwife only just made it to the birth. They called her straight away once they checked me but I was so close she almost missed out. Worked out well though, the hospital midwife knows mum and dad and used to work with dad so when the midwife arrived, she let her carry on with the birth and she was very excited to be able to deliver Michael.
His full name is Michael Alan James Edwards. Michael after his poppy and Alan James after his late grandfather (Scott's dad Alan James).
All going great so far, feeding within 30 minutes of birth and still going strong. On three hourly feeds and sleeping through to each feed (touch wood). one feed during the night which we are just hoping will continue.
Well, enough about us cause we want to hear more about your exciting adventures and now you are on road trip (tee he he, just wanted to say that cause it reminds me of that movie ... hilarious) and we want to hear more from you. Looking forward to your next blog
Love Uncle Scott, Aunty Bron and Michael
